Thomas Norman Luce, age 77, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in Highland Park, Illinois where he resided for the past 23 years. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on June 17, 1946, he was the son of Charles and Marian (Hazeltine) Luce. Tom was raised in Grand Rapids and later went on to live in Missouri, Kansas, and Illinois where he enjoyed a fulfilling career in original equipment manufacturing sales after graduating from Michigan State University in 1969. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and most of all, loved sailing on Lake Michigan. He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret M. “Peggy” Plumridge whom he married at the Mayflower Congregational Church in Grand Rapids in 1971; his brother, Robert G. Luce; nephews, Michael C. Luce, Andrew D. Watts, and Robert K. Luce. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister earlier this year, Barbara Kay (Luce Watts) Sartain. A private burial will take place in Oakhill Cemetery, Grand Rapids. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favorite charity is suggested in memory of Tom.
